Made for anyone whose screen gets seen

Streamers needed it first, but anyone who shares a screen can show something private by accident.

Open any tab while you're live

Check an order, answer a message, or open your stream settings without cutting to a break screen. Whatever is private is already covered by the time chat sees the page.

  • Your stream key stays hidden in your streaming dashboard
  • Delivery pages and receipts don't show your home address
  • A chat message with your real name gets covered as it arrives

Covered before your viewers can see it

You open the wrong tab on stream, share your screen on a call, or post a screenshot, and your address is in it. Shut makes that a non-event.

  1. 1

    Add what's private

Put your real name, home address, and anything else on your list. With Pro, Shut also spots emails, phone numbers, card numbers, and stream keys on its own.

  2. 2

    Browse like normal

Shut checks every page before it appears and covers matches, including text that loads later, form fields, and the tab title.

  3. 3

    Peek when you need to

Alt+click covered text to see it for a few seconds, or right-click and choose Show hidden text. Then it covers itself again.

Try it yourself

Click a name or place and watch it disappear from the message, the same way it would on your screen. This demo uses the same automatic detection as Shut Pro.

  1. Pick what's private

Shut can't guess your name or your town, so you put those on your list. Click one to add it.

  2. Watch it get covered

With Pro, emails, phone numbers, and street addresses are covered without you doing anything. Everything on your list is covered too, even with different capital letters.

  3. Peek, or switch it off

Alt+click a covered word to see it for a few seconds. Switch Shut off to compare.

Subject
Saturday

Hey Jordan Avery! I'll pick you up at 1428 Elm Street around 6 on Saturday. Text me at (555) 201-4477 if anything changes. I also sent the photos from the Maple High reunion in Springwood to jordan.avery@example.com.

This demo runs entirely in your browser tab. Nothing you click or type is sent anywhere, and it's gone when you close or refresh the page.

It catches what you forgot to add

Your list covers what you know is private. With Pro, automatic detection covers the rest, and you can turn each kind on or off in settings.

Every sample here is made up. Alt+click one to reveal it.

Why not just crop your scene?

Cropping and being careful both help. They also both fail the one time a page opens where you didn't expect it.

Your private info never leaves your computer

Shut needs to know your address so it can hide it. That list is never sent to us or to anyone else, on the free version or Pro.

What “stored locally” means

Many apps save what you type on a company's computers, called servers, somewhere on the internet. That's what lets you log in from anywhere, but it also means your info is sitting on someone else's computer.

Shut doesn't do that. It's like writing a note and keeping it in your own desk drawer, instead of mailing it to a company to keep for you. Shut reads the note from your drawer when it needs to. Nobody else has a copy, including us.

The internet

The free version sends nothing online. With Pro, only your license key is checked with our server. Your list never goes.

Common questions

Privacy, peeking, and what Shut can't cover.

  • No. Your list is saved inside your browser on your computer and nowhere else. The free version never sends anything over the internet. If you buy Pro, Shut sends only your license key and a random ID for your browser to our license server, to check the license. Never your list.

Share your screen without the second thought

Add Shut to your browser, put your name and address on your list, and open any tab you like.
